Traffic restrictions in dubrovnik 2026: everything you need to know
From April 1 to October 31, 2026, Dubrovnik has introduced a special Traffic Management System in the Old Town area and surrounding zones.
The goal is to protect Dubrovnik’s cultural heritage, reduce congestion, and improve sustainable urban mobility. Therefore, vehicle access to Dubrovnik Old Town is restricted and allowed only under specific conditions.
Where does the Dubrovnik traffic restriction zone start?

The Zone begins at the traffic lights at the entrance to the narrower city center of Dubrovnik, near the public garage. It covers a wider area around the historic city core, including:
- Ilijina glavica
- along Zagrebačka Street up to Viktorija
- across the area from Pile to Boninovo
From that point onward, traffic is restricted and clearly regulated, so it is important to pay attention to traffic signs and access restrictions.
Vehicle access to the Zone
Further vehicle access is limited and clearly regulated, and allowed in the following situations:
- The Bus Web Shop – for vehicles with 7+1, 8+1, or 9–30 seats or more, with stopping permitted at the Pile and Ploče drop-off zones
- Pre-booked parking via the official app at parking lots located below the Dubrovnik Cable Car and at Pile
- If staying in private accommodation that includes garage parking, and the host has submitted the vehicle’s license plate in advance
- If staying in a hotel located within the Zone.
How guests with accommodation reservations enter the city center
The host is registering the license plates of guests and visitors arriving in Dubrovnik with a confirmed accommodation booking at a hotel or private property that includes a parking space.
The host must register the vehicle’s license plate before the start of the stay, or within 3 days of the guest’s arrival
Can you enter the Old City zone without a parking reservation?
Visitors who do not have a confirmed accommodation booking may still enter the Zone by vehicle to find accommodation. However, their entry must be properly registered.
In case they do not find accommodation, they lose the right to remain in the Zone. They must leave the Zone, and within three days, send an explanation to zona@dubrovnik.hr.
The email explanation must include the vehicle license plate number, date, and time of entry, and a brief explanation of the reason for entering.
What if accommodation is found after entering the Zone?
If visitors find accommodation after entering the Zone, the hotel or host must register their stay within three days
